Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Children may use MyStoryMates only under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian, through that adult's account. Children may not create accounts of their own or use the service independently.

By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that any information you provide is accurate. If you allow a child to use the service, you are responsible for their activity on your account.

MyStoryMates lets you upload photos — of family members, pets, toys, or anyone else — to create storybook characters. Here's how we handle those photos:

• We only use your photos to generate your characters. We do not sell your photos, share them with third parties, or use them for any purpose outside of providing the service to you.
• Your photos are temporarily stored. Uploaded photos are kept on our servers only during the character creation and editing process. Once you finalize your character, your uploaded photos are automatically deleted from our systems. Photos are also sent to our AI service provider for character generation.
• You can remove your content. You can archive or delete characters and stories from your account at any time through the app.

By uploading photos or providing character and story descriptions, you confirm that you have the right to use that content. This means you have permission from any people pictured (or you are their parent or legal guardian), and that your content does not infringe on any third party's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any content you upload or submit does not violate the rights of others.

The stories and illustrations generated on MyStoryMates are created using AI (artificial intelligence). You own the stories and illustrations generated for your account and may use them for personal, non-commercial purposes, such as sharing with family, printing for home use, and similar activities.

We may use generated stories and character illustrations (not your original uploaded photos) as anonymized product examples or marketing materials. We would only feature content from stories you have shared publicly via a story link, or with your explicit permission. We will not display content in a way that identifies you or your family without your consent.

Our stories and illustrations are designed to be child-friendly and family-appropriate. However, because content is AI-generated, it may occasionally contain errors, awkward phrasing, visual inconsistencies between illustrations, or other unexpected results. We do our best to ensure quality, but we cannot guarantee that every generated story or illustration will be perfect.

Subscriptions. Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose) and will automatically renew until you cancel. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you won't be charged again, and you'll retain access until the period ends.

Credit packs. We also offer one-time credit pack purchases. Credit packs are non-recurring and do not auto-renew. Unused credits from a pack remain available as long as your account is active. Credit pack purchases are non-refundable.

Refunds for subscriptions are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you have a billing concern, please reach out to us at support@mystorymates.com and we'll do our best to make it right.

MyStoryMates is a platform for creating children's stories. You agree not to use it to:

• Generate content that is harmful, abusive, sexually explicit, or illegal
• Upload photos of individuals without their consent (or without parental consent for minors)
• Upload content or provide descriptions that infringe on copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of others
• Attempt to circumvent the service's safety filters or guidelines
• Use the service for any commercial purpose without our written permission
• Interfere with or disrupt the service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of it

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our sole discretion.

Your privacy matters to us. Our Privacy Policy explains in detail what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using MyStoryMates, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.

MyStoryMates is provided "as is." We make no guarantees that the service will always be available, error-free, or that generated content will meet your expectations.

To the fullest extent permitted by Washington law, Crouton Creations, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Washington state.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that point means you accept the updated terms.
