Privacy Policy

MyStoryMates is intended for use by adults (18 and older). The service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you are a parent or guardian using MyStoryMates on behalf of your family, this policy covers how we handle the information you provide to us, including information about the children in your life.

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with a third-party identity provider (such as Google), we also receive the name and profile picture associated with that account. Passwords are managed by our authentication provider and are never stored in plain text.

Character and story content

To create characters, you may provide text descriptions and optionally upload reference photos. These photos might include images of people, pets, or toys. Reference photos are temporarily stored on our servers only for the duration of the character creation and editing process. Once you finalize your character, your uploaded photos are automatically deleted from our systems. Photos are also sent to our AI service provider for character generation.

Stories you create — including text, illustrations, and audio narrations — are stored in your account.

Account preferences and usage data

We store your subscription plan, story and character credits, and voice narration preferences. We also collect usage analytics to understand how the product is being used (see Section 4).

Contact form submissions

If you reach out via our contact form, we collect your name, email, and message. These are processed by a third-party form service.

Unauthenticated "Try" sessions

If you try the character creator before signing up, we temporarily store your session data (anonymous ID, character description, and generated image) in your browser's local storage so we can connect it to your account when you sign up. This data expires automatically within 30 days.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the service — generating characters, stories, and illustrations
• Manage your account, subscription, and credits
• Send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing notifications, etc.)
• Respond to support requests
• Improve the product through usage analytics
• Occasionally use generated story content as product examples or marketing materials (see Section 5)

Running MyStoryMates requires working with third-party service providers. We share data with them only as necessary to provide the service. These providers fall into the following categories:

• Authentication. Your email, password (stored in a secure, unreadable format), and any third-party identity tokens are handled by our authentication provider.
• Cloud infrastructure and storage. Your account data, character and story metadata, and generated content (illustrations, audio, PDFs) are stored on cloud infrastructure hosted in the United States.
• AI processing. To generate characters, stories, and illustrations, we send your character descriptions, reference photos, and story prompts to AI service providers. Your uploaded photos are temporarily stored on our servers during the character creation process and are automatically deleted once your character is finalized. Audio narration is also generated by an AI provider using story text.
• Analytics. We use an analytics service to track in-app events (such as when a character is created or a story is generated) tied to an anonymous user ID. This helps us understand how the product is being used and allows us to improve it over time.
• Email delivery. Transactional emails (account confirmation, billing notifications, etc.) are sent via a third-party email provider, which receives your email address.
• Payment processing. If you purchase a paid plan or make a one-time purchase, payment information is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full payment details.
• Bot prevention. We use a bot verification service on certain forms to prevent automated abuse.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.

Original photos you upload are used only to generate characters for your stories. As described in Section 2, your uploaded photos are temporarily stored during the character creation process and are automatically deleted once your character is finalized. We do not share your original photos with third parties beyond what is necessary for AI generation, and we do not use them in our marketing.

AI-generated stories and illustrations belong to you for personal use. We may use generated story content (not your original photos) as anonymized product examples — for instance, on our website or in marketing materials. We would only feature content from stories you have shared publicly via a story link, or with your explicit permission. We will never display content in a way that identifies you or your family without your consent.

If you share a story using its public link, anyone with that link can view it. You can revoke public access at any time from within the app.

Your account data, story metadata, and generated content are stored on cloud infrastructure in the United States.

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restrictions on who can access your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your content (characters, stories, and generated illustrations) is retained as long as your account is active. You can archive or delete individual characters and stories from within the app at any time.

To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at support@mystorymates.com. We will delete your account and personal data within 30 days of your request, except where we are required to retain certain information (such as transaction records and billing history) for legal or regulatory purposes.

Depending on the privacy laws that apply to you (such as the GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations), you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Receive a copy of your data in a common, machine-readable format (such as a CSV or JSON file)

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email before the changes take effect. The updated policy will always be available at this page.
